Responsive web design  ( RWD ) is an approach to  web design  aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing and interaction experience—easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling—across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones). The  Fifth Generation Computer Systems project  (FGCS) was an initiative by Japan's  Ministry of International Trade and Industry , begun in 1982, to create a computer using  massively parallel computing /processing. It was to be the result of a massive government/industry research project in Japan during the 1980s.
